Women are only safe when capitalism is destroyed

I’m only 16 so I have lived for only a small portion of the time that women have been fighting for freedom but what I have seen is that no matter how much progress we make, no matter how much feminism grows, no matter how many women run for office, women are never safe. <br><br>The best examples of safe spaces for women are in indigenous communities where capitalism and colonialism has not destroyed the community. <br><br>Capitalism only allows progress for women so long as it does not hurt the pockets of men. Women can be CEOs and have their own businesses but they are not paid equal to men. Women can be politicians and run for office, but capitalism and patriarchy will always be one step ahead of us. Capitalism will only protect women when it doesn’t hurt their profit. <br><br>You will never be truly free when you are nothing but a resource, when you are nothing but a dollar sign. Women are not safe when capitalism is in power. Capitalism only uses women to gain more power, more money, more control. Capitalism will only allow women to progress to a certain point, when we reach that peak, they will only allow us to go further so long as we do not talk about class, if we do not fight capitalism. <br><br>The best example of this is the women’s marches in 2017. The largest protest ever, millions of women going to the streets to fight for their rights, to fight for equality. But what came out of it? Nothing but a hashtag. Capitalists and corporate uses this to gain power. They preyed on our naivety, they used our trust in them to gain more power. The leaders of the women’s march were capitalist themselves, they had their own agendas, they used us to gain more power. Women will never be safe when capitalists are the ones leading the movement. <br><br>The only way that we will ever be safe is when capitalism is destroyed, when the patriarchy is destroyed. The only way that we can gain freedom is through revolution. <br><br>The women who are afraid of revolution, the women who are afraid of communism, of anarchism, of socialism. You are the reason we are not free. You are the reason why capitalism still has a hold on us. You are the reason why the patriarchy still has a hold on us. <br><br>You will never be free if you are afraid of change. Freedom will not feel comfortable, it will hurt, it will be hard to get to. But once you are free, once you have nothing to lose but your chains, you will feel liberated. You will feel safe. <br><br>Women are only safe when capitalism is destroyed.
