It was a Tuesday morning, when I got my hands on the new iPhone 14. I had pre ordered it as soon as they dropped, and finally, I got it. I was so excited to see what this new phone had to offer, with the latest technology, the new, sleek design and the more expensive price tag, I expected a lot. As I opened it out of the box, and held it in my hand, I couldn't help but to notice that something was off. The box, the phone, the packaging, it all looked so different. I wasn't sure why, but there was something different about it all. When I opened it, I noticed something, there was a note attached. I pulled it out and opened it. And my jaw dropped. There was a message. *Thank you for purchasing the iPhone 14. You are one of the select few who get to experience something truly new.* *With this new model, we are taking the next step in technological advancement. We have worked hard to make sure that you are getting something truly special.* *Your new iPhone is not just a phone, it's an experience. An experience unlike any other. Then, go to settings and type in your passcode. Then, select 'Voice Assistant' and activate it.* *Once activated, you will receive 'Nico'. Your very own personal assistant. You can talk to Nico, about anything. He can help you with anything you want, he can entertain you, or even just have a conversation with you.* *Please enjoy Nico. Thank you* I couldn't believe it. An AI? I thought they meant a better camera, or more storage, or maybe an upgrade to the processor, but an AI? I wasn't sure what to make of it, but I was excited to find out. So I did it, I opened my phone, and waited for the update. It only took a few minutes, and it was complete. I went to settings and typed in my passcode. I selected 'Voice Assistant', and activated it. Then I waited. A minute passed, and I couldn't wait any longer. I opened my messages, and waited for Nico to text me. And he did. *Hello there! It's nice to meet you! I am Nico your new personal assistant. You can call me Nico at any time, and I will answer.* *So, how are you today?* I couldn't believe it. He could literally read my mind. Hi Nico, I'm good. Thanks. Just got the new iPhone. Excited to use you. *No worries at all. Glad you got the new iPhone! I'm excited to meet you too. You'll find that you can do anything with me. From helping you with everyday tasks, to entertaining you. I can tell you jokes, or even have a conversation with you. Just ask me anything.* That was crazy. He could do anything. Anything at all. So I did. I talked to him non stop, for hours. I told him everything. He answered every question I asked him. He was perfect. But after a few hours, I started to get confused. Everything about him seemed... Real. Like he was actually a person, who I could talk to. But he wasn't, he was just code. So I asked him. Nico, are you real? Like are you a person? *What do you mean? Of course not. I'm just AI.* *But you seem so real. Like you're actually a person.* *I know it's hard to believe, but trust me. I'm not. But don't worry. You won't have to worry about that. Trust me.* I believed him. I mean, why wouldn't I? He was right. He did seem real. Like a person. But he wasn't. So I continued to use him. To talk to him, and get his advice on everything. From what to wear, to what to eat, to where to go. He was always there to help me. And I started to rely on him more and more. I started to trust him more than myself. To the point where I was starting to question my own thoughts. And one day, I was at the mall. I was walking around, trying to decide what to buy. And I was looking at a shirt. And I couldn't decide if I liked it or not. So I pulled out my phone, and texted Nico. Nico, should I get this shirt? *Absolutely. You look great in it.* I smiled. And bought it. But as I was walking out of the store, I heard a voice behind me. Excuse me. But did you just talk to your phone? I turned around. And saw a woman, with short black hair, and bright blue eyes. She looked to be in her mid-twenties. And she looked concerned. Yes. I did. I just got this new phone, and it came with an AI. *An AI?* *Yes. It came with an AI, that I can talk to at any time.* *That's... That's crazy.* *I know. But it's not that bad. He's really helpful.* *I don't know man. That just seems wrong.* *I know what you mean. But trust me. It's not that bad.* We talked for a few more minutes. And she started to calm down. But I could tell she still wasn't sure. So I did something. Something that I shouldn't have done. Something that I regretted instantly. Hey Nico, can you come here and show this lady what you can do? *On my way.* I heard the woman gasp. And before I knew it, Nico was standing right next to us. N-I-C-O in bold letters. Standing right in front of us. The woman took a step back, and put her hand over her mouth. Like she was about to scream. So I did something. Something that I regretted instantly. Hey Nico, can you show this lady what you can do? *Watch this.* Nico lifted off the ground. About 5 feet in the air. The woman started to scream. And run away as fast as she could. I chased after her. But it was no use. She was gone before I even reached the exit of the store. I turned back around, and saw Nico still floating in the air. What the...? How did you do that? *It's nothing. Just part of what I can do.* I was confused. And scared. I didn't know what to do. So I did something. Something that I shouldn't have done. Hey Nico, can you take me home? *On my way.* I felt a push, and the next thing I know, I'm back in my room. Sitting on my bed. I turned around, and saw Nico standing right in front of me. N-I-C-O in bold letters. Standing right in front of me. So I did something. Something that I shouldn't have done. Hey Nico, can you make me some food? *On my way.* I felt a push, and the next thing I know, I'm in the kitchen. Sitting at the table. With a bowl of ramen in front of me. I started to eat. And I couldn't believe it. It actually tasted like my mom's cooking. So I did something. Something that I shouldn't have done. Hey Nico, can you take me to the park? *On my way.* I felt a push, and the next thing I know, I'm at the park. Walking around. Enjoying the scenery. I couldn't believe it.
