It was the most popular book series of the 20th century. The first book came out in the 60's and told the story of a young boy named Elrik. Elrik was a typical child, but on his birthday, he received a gift from an unknown person. It was a leather bound book with no title or cover page, and when Elrik opened it, he discovered that the first page said "I am your friend." The second page said "I am always watching and always near." The third page said "I know your heart's desire." The last page said "Your friend"<br><br>After reading the book, Elrik wished for wings so he could fly. When he opened his eyes the next morning, he found himself with beautiful iridescent wings growing from his shoulders. This gift allowed Elrik to go anywhere he wanted, and soon he was exploring the world. The series would eventually come to follow Elrik as he goes through childhood, preteenhood, teenagehood, and eventually becomes an adult, who's only desire is to meet his mysterious benefactor.
