CMV: The vast majority of gun owners in America are just as concerned as the average person about the prevalence of guns, but don't see why it isn't already common sense to not bring a weapon into an establishment that doesn't allow weapons

I don't under stand why some of the places that have been declared "no gun zones" are still "no gun zones." For example, the local airport, public swimming pools, libraries, schools, etc... isn't it already common sense that you don't bring your gun there? Why make all these places "no gun zones?" You're not entitled to bring a gun under your coat there just because it's not against the law. <br>The school I went to recently we had a mass shooting threat at the school, and they really upped the metal detector usage as a result. I had a bag of popcorn in my purse, and the metal detector beeped due to the metal zipper. One of the security people opened my bag and they said "there's no gun in here," so I was cleared. If I had a gun in there, then I would clearly be a threat. I don't see why it's such a big deal that you can't bring a weapon into certain places. But I'm looking to change my view.
