Someone called the police on my house because I was “harassing people” in an online game.

I work 12 hour shifts at a hospital and when I get home I usually play a bit of overwatch before passing out for the night. Tonight I decided to play on my girlfriend’s account (its worse than mine) because I wanted to level up her Reinhardt so I can get his sweet Steampunk skin.<br><br>I do fine for the first few matches but then I start losing. I get matched up against a grandmaster roadhog and I throw the game with my ineptitude. After the game the enemy team starts pissed at me because we lost even though we had a grandmaster on our team. I get called a cheater, a smurf, a thrower, and various other derogatory remarks. They demand that I get banned when lo and behold I get banned for “in-game harassment.”<br><br>Little did I know, someone apparently called the police on me and the cops showed up at my door. After explaining to them that I was just playing a video game, the cop asked me if I was ok. I ask him what he means and he says that the person who called in the report was concerned for my safety because I was “threatening suicide and murder on their feed.” I’m not sure how much of the report the cop heard, but I’m guessing the person who called it in heard me say “I’m gonna throw myself off a bridge” after losing two matches in a row. <br><br>The cop leaves and I go back to playing video games and I get a notification from Xbox telling me that someone reported me for harassment. I go onto the Xbox website and find out that I’ve been banned until 7pm tonight. Now I’m not sure what’s going to happen when I get back onto overwatch, but considering the fact that I was reported for harassment and not in game harassment I’m afraid that I might have to make a new account for overwatch if the ban is permanent.<br><br>I just learned that if you play badly in a video game the police might show up at your house.<br><br>EDIT: Holy crap this blew up! I think a lot of you are confused about what happened. When I said the cops showed up after I got banned I meant I got banned and then 30 minutes later the cops showed up. I’m guessing the person who called in the report heard me say some pretty choice phrases to players in the game after I got banned and decided to call in a welfare check.
