Am I in the wrong for refusing to take off my wedding band while being scanned at the airport?

I recently had a trip last week and well, it was a trip alright. I had a minor issue with a male TSA agent, and I want to know if I was in the wrong. When I stood on the scanner, the machine beeped and the male TSA agent held up my wedding band. Now, I'm sure there are some of you who may think "why not just take it off?" but I think this is BS.

I didn't want to take it off because, well, it's my wedding band, and my wife put it on me. Also, I have never had a problem at any airport with my band, so I didn't think it would be an issue this time. I politely told the agent I wasn't comfortable removing it, and this immediately caused him to treat me like a criminal.

He asked me if he could touch it, but I told him no, and he got angry and yelled at me for some reason. His supervisor came over, and he calmed down a bit. But he still acted irritated and rude. After a quick pat down, I was cleared to go. The TSA agents were all staring at me like I was the asshole. But the thing is, I wasn't trying to cause any problems.

I just wanted to keep my wedding band on, and I didn't think it was a big deal. I understand if you people want to think I was in the wrong, but I feel like I'm allowed to set boundaries. And this was one of them. It's not like I was trying to bring a gun through security, it was just a ring.
