It was established in 1837. This was also the same time when British East India Company had just finished conquering most of Indian subcontinent. All their bloodshed, violence and loot was to expand British Empire and spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The main issue in India to spread Christianity was the presence of Hinduism. And therefore, it had to be destroyed. Hindu customs had to be destroyed. The Hindu society had to be destroyed. They knew that it was difficult to convert the Hindus.
