The luxury carmaker wants to develop more hybrid and battery-powered vehicles.<br><br>Mercedes says the development of combustion engines is nearing an end as it prepares to go electric by the end of the decade.<br><br>The luxury carmaker will be "ready to go all electric by the end of this decade" where market conditions allow.<br><br>It aims to electrify its entire line-up by 2030, switching from fossil-fuel to battery-powered engines across its passenger car range.<br><br>The company says it has spent £8.6bn researching and developing new electric models, including the EQ sub-brand of battery-electric models.​<br><br>**\>** Mercedes has launched a range of electric and hybrid cars, including the EQA and EQB. These models use the same design as the GLA and GLB models, but with an electric motor.​<br><br>**\>** It also plans to launch a full-electric version of the S-Class, called the EQS.​<br><br>**\>** "Our electric-only platform will cover 50% of our passenger car sales," said chief executive Ola Kallenius.​<br><br>**\>** "We want to plug in half of our cars by 2025, and that will really get the volume going.​
