The fact that people say “assuming room temperature” is sick

I see this phrase used to describe someone who has died. I’m a nurse and have seen this phrase used in “medical” Facebook groups, Sub-Reddits, and in real life. The fact that nurses, doctors and other medical professionals can be so callous towards the loss of life is disgusting. I’ve seen this phrase used in regards to a patient coding and dying, a family member dying, a friend dying, a patient committing suicide, etc. It’s not something to be taken lightly. Life is precious and to make a joke out of it is pathetic. We take an oath to help people and we should ALL act like it.

Edit: thanks for the awards! I do know that some of you use this phrase for humor and don’t find it offensive. I personally don’t like it and find it ignorant and callous. I’m glad you guys have stuck up for me. As a nurse I care about everyone. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and kindness.
