The next U.S. President by party and the next 3 Congresses, and what it could mean for guns.

I'm going to assume that Biden will only be the President for another 2 years, and that Trump will take back the White House after that. I'm also going to assume that the Democrats will control the next 2 Congresses, and the GOP will control the next Congress after that. And I'm going to use that as the premise for what gun laws are likely to change in the next 3 years.

Now, for the next two years, I think we can reasonably expect a bumpstock ban, UBC expansion, and a ispitol (handgun) ban. All three of these are definitely the most popular gun control laws, but I don't think they will all pass at the same time. I think the Democrats will pass them at different times to milk as much out of them as possible.

But as for the next two years after Trump is elected for a second time, I don't think any of those laws will be repealed. I don't think there will be any expansions of gun laws. I do think that the Democrats will challenge the constitutionality of NFA, but I don't think they will challenge the constitutionality of GCA. In other words, I do think that the Democrats will try to go after suppressors and SBRs, but not full autos, and I don't think they will try to go after handguns, rifles, or shotguns.
