Milos was a shy, quiet boy. His mother had died a long time ago. His father, however, was a different story. He was a cold and hard man. He was a drunkard and he loved beating his children with his bare hands. He loved making them cry. Milos was the eldest of the three, and his father never spared a single hair of his head. Milos had been running from him since he was seven years old. He was a survivor. He learned to live on the streets when he was six, and he never lost his hope of getting out of this house. He knew he couldn’t live like this forever, so he made plans to escape. He was seventeen and he had never been with a girl before. His father always said that women are the cause of all his troubles, and he wanted Milos to be a man. But Milos was never interested. He didn’t even have a girlfriend. His only friend was his childhood friend, Raffi. He was the only one he could trust. Milos was in love with Raffi. He knew it from the time they were five. But he was never brave enough to tell him, he didn’t want to ruin their friendship. Milos finally decided that he was going to run away. He had saved some money from his street work, and he had already planned the route he would take. He had never been so excited to escape his life. But as soon as he left his room, he was greeted by the sight of his father holding a heavy wooden stick. He looked at him with a cold, hard look, and he saw his father’s eyes flickering. Milos knew that it was the perfect moment. He knew that he wouldn’t last another day in this hellhole. He knew that he had to run. But his heart was beating like crazy, he felt his whole body trembling. He was so scared. He knew that if he ran, he would never see his father again. And if he stayed, he would never see his mother again. He was a prisoner of his father’s cruelty and his own weakness. He didn’t know what to do. But he knew one thing. He knew that he had to run. He was going to run no matter what. He was going to run and never look back.
