In the past week, I've learned the hard way of the dangers of ageism in the fetish community

I'm an early twenties woman and I'm an FA. I like to show interest in other women (with their consent, of course), and I've been dating women in a variety of ages. I'm the type of person who will show interest in someone who is a few years younger than me and someone who is over 30. I've even dated women in their 40s.

Recently, I messaged this woman in her 30s and was getting along with her very well. However, when she learned of my age, she suddenly blocked me. I messaged again to ask if everything was okay, but she said she's only attracted to women under the age of 25 and that anything over that is "too old" for her liking.

I asked around, and it seems to be a trend that there is a lot of ageism in other communities that is spilling over in the FA community in general. We are an open-minded and accepting community, and while we should have preferences, it should not come at the cost of being openly disrespectful towards others.

Ageism is just as bad as any other form of prejudice. Being open-minded and accepting does not mean aligning with someone's preference, but rather being respectful to others. It's extremely rude to refer to people over a certain age as "too old", as age is not something that someone can control.

Edit: I want to clarify that I am talking about the fetish community in general, not just FA. I have no issues with people having preferences. I have a problem with people openly disrespecting others and making assumptions based on age.
