The concept of heaven and hell is offensive

I want to preface this with I am an atheist. But the idea that there are only 2 choices for you when you die: eternal bliss or eternal suffering makes me angry. What kind of god would subject his creation to infinite suffering. Also, there is a correlation between the amount of suffering and the amount of belief in heaven and hell. I.e. the more you believe, the more you suffer. I believe the entire concept is offensive.
