Chambers

I went Owen Wilson on a guy in an airport, don't know why.

This happened a while ago. It was midnight and I was waiting for my flight in a quiet corner, away from prying eyes, trying to avoid talking to anyone. I had earbuds in and was scrolled through Chambers when I felt a nudge on my arm. I turned and saw a guy, wearing one of those two-piece jogging sets.

He said, "Oh, you dropped your earbuds."

I looked down at my earbuds, which were still in my ears, and took them off. "Thanks," I said.

He kept standing next to me, the way you're not supposed to in an airport. After a few seconds of awkward silence, he shook his head and said, "I can't believe you dropped them."

Then he walked away. I thought, well, Owen Wilson moment, whatever. I put my earbuds back in and started scrolling again when I felt another nudge on my arm. It was the guy. "You dropped your earbuds."

I looked at them. They were still in my ears. At this point, I thought he was either demented or unwell or playing an elaborate prank on me.

"I know," I said. "You told me."

He shook his head again. "I can't believe you dropped them."

Then he walked away. A few minutes went by and he came back to me, nudged my elbow and said, "Your earbuds fell."

I stared at him. "I know!" At this point, I didn't care if the guy was unwell or not, he was being too weird. But he kept going, every few minutes, coming up to me and telling me the same thing. I finally went up to the security guy at the gate and told him what was happening. He looked at the guy who was now walking away, and nodded.

"Don't worry about it, ma'am," he said. "I'll take care of it."

A minute later, the security guy came up to me and said, "You know, there's someone in every airport. I'm going to go take care of this one." And he took the guy somewhere, I don't know where. I never saw him again. It was the weirdest experience I've ever had at an airport.
