After the war, humanity built a city in the shape of the world. But it had its problems
#####

The city was built in the image of the world, down to the last detail. It had mountains and oceans and forests, each district a miniature replica of the corresponding landscape on Earth. But it was built with steel and stone instead of earth and water, and the people who lived there had forgotten what it was like to be in the midst of nature. The air was thick with pollution and the ground was hot with radiation. It was a city built on the back of a dying planet, and its people suffered for it.

The city was divided into districts, each one representing a different country. There was the United States, the largest of them all, stretching out like a giant hand across the center of the city. Next to it stood Canada, a cold and icy giant, its peaks reaching up into the sky like shards of glass. France stood proud to the south, a tiny but elegant country, its towers reaching up towards the clouds like a work of art. And to the north stood Germany, a dark and foreboding land, its mountains reaching up like skeletal fingers.

The districts were separated by great walls, some of which stretched for miles. They were guarded by soldiers who stood watch day and night, their eyes ever vigilant for any sign of trouble. And the people of the districts knew better than to try and cross the walls. They had been warned countless times of the dangers that lay beyond, and they knew it was true.

But there were exceptions to every rule, and the city was no different. There were those who dared to venture beyond the walls, who sought out adventure and danger in the unknown. And there were those who would follow them, who would hunt them down and punish them for their transgressions. The city was full of contradictions, and its people lived with them every day.

The city was also home to strange creatures, born from the radiation and pollution that filled its air. There were birds with glowing feathers and beasts with eyes that glowed in the dark. And there were the creatures of the deep, the ones who lived in the dark and twisted tunnels that ran beneath the city. They were feared by all, for they were said to be the remnants of humanity’s greatest foes, the enemies that had been defeated on the battlefield. And they were said to still have the power to destroy the world.

The people of the city lived in fear of these creatures, and they knew better than to try and confront them. They stayed hidden in their districts, locked away from the dangers that lurked outside. And they knew that the city was a fragile thing, that it could collapse at any moment if the wrong foot was put wrong. But they also knew that they had nowhere else to go, that they were stuck in this place until they could find a way out.

So they lived, in fear and in hiding. And they prayed that the city would last a little while longer, until they could find a way out. They knew that it was a slim hope, but they had to hold onto it. For they were all that was left of humanity, and they knew that they owed it to themselves to try and survive.

And so they waited, for the day when they could leave the city behind and start anew. But until that day came, they were stuck here, living in the shadows of the world that had been lost.
