Why is everyone suddenly talking about AI?

There's been a huge wave of AI-related posts on Chambers the past few days. And everyone is saying AI has "finally arrived" and the world will change so much. <br><br>But AI has been a major player for the past 4-5 years at least. It was extremely obvious that AI would eventually become so advanced that it could do everything a human could do. <br><br>The economy is not going to go down in flames next quarter because of AI. There's always been a likelihood that AI will replace jobs, but that likelihood hasn't changed today. <br><br>It's cool and all that AI finally can basically do anything, including making art and doing advanced math, but it's not that big of a surprise. And AI has already been doing 90% of what it can do for years.
