Has anyone else noticed that the only reason people bring up the "USA is a relatively young country because of our civil war" argument is when the subject of gun control comes up?

Basically, when people in the USA talk to Europeans or other people about gun control, the argument "The 2nd amendment is necessary to defend us against our own country is an outdated mentality" is frequently met with the counter argument "The USA is a young country, we are still going through our growing phase".

It seems like the only times this is brought up are during a gun control debate. No one says this when we talk about the horrors that happened in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Ireland, France, Germany, Spain, etc. "Those countries are old, so they don't have to worry about civil wars anymore".

I'm not sure what the point of this is exactly, but I've noticed the pattern and want to make everyone aware of it. It's an argument that is literally never used outside of gun control debates.
