Why are we so quick to dismiss the idea that we are living in a simulation?

Interesting question from the majority of humanity saying that we are not living in a simulation. I'd be interested to hear opinions about this from people because I think it's an important topic to discuss. Also if you are a programmer or have a technical expertise, you could shed some light on this topic.
