I think its time we discuss the Highland Park Shooter and his weapon of choice.

I see a lot of people accusing the media of lying about this shooters weapon. Many people think he used an AR-15 and that the media is covering it up to push an agenda.

His rifle was actually a Smith and Wesson M&P 15.

In 2019, Smith and Wesson decided to create the M&P 15-22. The difference is that the 15-22 is a .22LR AR-15. The original M&P 15 was a 5.56/6 ARC rifle. It was an AR-15. A rifle that was branded under Smith and Wesson. Confusing as hell, right?

The media does not know the difference, and a lot of people are being mislead. The shooter DID use a Smith and Wesson rifle, but the media is also telling the truth by saying he used an AR-15.

or at least that is my take on it.

edit: I am sorry I did not explain this well. The M&P 15 is a rifle series. It includes many different calibers. The highland park shooter's rifle was aM&P 15. Most M&P 15 rifles are AR-15s. The M&P 15-22 is a .22lr only rifle that is not an AR-15. The highland park shooter was armed with an AR-15.

edit2: I now know they are Smith and Wesson branded AR-15s.
