I don't know, I'm just feeling particularly salty about backstories that are just a mix of Asian and European culture, with no more depth than that.
An emperor-esque figure, a ruling class that is basically European knights but with katanas, and ethnic minorities that wear the national costume of backwater country with next to no cultural or historical connection to the supposed history of these Asian-inspired nations.

Example: the Last Airbender.

I honestly don't even mind the blatant European influences in modern Asian fantasy backstories because they can just as well be set in an alternative Asia, without necessarily being Asian.

And to state the obvious, I am not talking about influences, it's the backstories that are literally a crude mishmash of different cultures with no or very little depth.
To give a more specific example, the Mongols were just as heavily influenced by Chinese culture as they were by European culture, and in the end they just did their own thing.

The same with European backstories, it's the mishmash that I dislike, like fantasy nations that are supposed to be based on Celtic or Slavic cultures but instead they are Germanic/Celtic/Slavic with French, Italian and Swedish cultural influences present all at once.

And to make it clear, I am not talking about cultural exchange.
I am particularly salty about this because I am Asian and ethnic minority, and I hate it when backstories are just "we saw the national costume of this European country and thought it was pretty, so let's use it for these Asian fantasy nations that we don't have any idea about the history and cultures of, which is why we will just mash them together with European cultures because we have an idea about the history and cultures of those."

Example: The Witcher.

There is more but I'm just gonna stop here.
Feel free to add.
