CMV: Humanity is doomed due to climate change

Crude oil is the most efficient energy source available to humans, and I can't see us as a society giving it up fast enough to make a difference. My argument is largely based on the fact that our current (capitalist) system isn't designed to transition away from a resource that is so efficient and cheap. It would take a new global order to make the sacrifices necessary to stop the worst effects of climate change. I believe we will be too slow to act and will suffer an existential catastrophe because of this.<br><br>Edit: thank you for the gold and silver.
