Anyone else scouring reviews, filming YouTube videos, and reading travel blogs only to find out that the only thing in that city are a few bars and restaurants and maybe 1-2 tourist attractions that everyone always suggests?

I'm currently looking into places to travel in Germany and France and I'm reading all these reviews on websites and watching YouTube videos and they all seem to have the same 2-3 restaurant suggestions, maybe 1-2 museums, and a few bars to go to. I don't like scouring through google maps on my own to find hidden gems. I'd rather want to rely on reviews and travel blogs to see if their opinions are the same as mine and to get a good idea of what I can do in the city. That way I don't have to go through a city blindly and make a list of bars and restaurants when I don't even know if I'd like their food or drinks.

I find that most travel blogs are written by stay at home moms and influencers who look at the first few restaurants and bars on google and do a quick 2 sentence summary. The rest of the blogs are written by people who live in that city.

It seems like every city has a 2-3 day itinerary to explore a city, but what if I want to spend a week in the city? Or even a month? What do you do to pass the time on a longer stay?
