Got beat up for speaking French

Throwaway account to keep friends and family from seeing this. <br><br>I (18,m) recently went to a drive-through on foot. When I approached the speaker, there was a vehicle already ordering, which I didn't know. When I said "bonjour" to ask if anyone could hear me, the guy in the vehicle heard me and started saying "this isn't fucking Quebec, speak English." I told him I was sorry, and said I would wait for him to be done to order. He then started saying "this ain't Quebec bitch, you need to speak English. You need to speak English if you want to stay here." And then I said "okay sorry, I didn't know you could hear me." <br><br>Then me: "I'm speaking English right now...?"<br><br>Him: "You better fucking be."<br><br>Me: "I'm speaking En- oh, nevermind."<br><br>He: "What the fuck did you just say you little shit? You think you're fucking cool? Come here and I'll fucking show you." He then gets out of his car and approaches me. I started to run to the nearest Wendy's (this was at Tim Hortons) and he caught up to me and punched me square in the nose, sending me to the ground, and started to kick me in the ribs. I got up and ran as fast as I could towards my apartment building (thank God there wasn't anyone in the parking lot, or the redneck would have had an audience). I ran into my apartment, shut and locked the door, and called the cops. <br><br>A bunch of police cars showed up, and they immediately arrested him, giving him charges of assault and racial discrimination, and hopefully he'll get a serious sentence. He was also high on something, which didn't help, but still, no excuse.<br><br>I'm really fucked up over this, and my nose is killing me. I'm also afraid to go outside in case I run into him, and I just don't feel safe... and this was the one place I felt safe.<br><br>I really hope he gets a serious sentence, because I don't ever want to see that fucking face again.<br><br>&#x200B;
