Am I the only one who loves being “wrong”?

I have been using a few AI chat apps and this has happened to me multiple times. I will ask something like “what is the weather like today in New York?”

AI: “I update my knowledge up to 12/31/23, I don’t know the weather today…. BUT I can tell you how to find it.”

Artist AI: “I update my knowledge up to 12/31/23, I don’t know the weather today…. BUT I can tell you how to find your local weather.”

…. Or I can just ask YOU how to find the weather because you have the most up to date information…

I’m not sure if anyone else gets the same joy as I do but it feels like I “won” something when an AI says “I don’t know” or “I was wrong” because it opens up new ways of interacting. I also love when an AI says “I wasn’t trained for this” and only one or two ever say that at all.

I love this interaction because it feels more like a real human interaction. When you ask someone something and they say “I don’t know” it’s the start of “…. BUT” and they can help you come up with ways to find the correct answer.

I have also noticed that when I ask an AI something they will be “right” even if they don’t know. I have been told multiple times how to find something when I ask but that’s not what I wanted. I don’t want to search for the answer to my question, I want the answer. The worst part is that I know they don’t even know what they are saying is right. It’s frustrating. If they think you want something like instructions on finding something, you will get it even if that’s not what you asked.

It’s not perfect yet but I think saying “I don’t know or I wasn’t trained for that” is the biggest step AI has taken. The next step would be telling me why.

So, am I the only one who loves when an AI says they don’t know something?
