I stole thousands of dollars from the department store I worked at for almost 4 years.

I was in high school at the time and it was just a quick easy job for me to make extra money. For the first year I was working there everything was normal and they trained me on the job. Until it was discovered that one of the managers was taking large amounts of money from the store for his own personal use. After he was fired it seemed like the district manager forgot about us for awhile.

I worked in the worlds biggest department store chain and the theft was incredibly easy to do. All I would do is scan the items and change the screen to say that the customer was paying in cash. I would give the items to the customer and the screen would print out a receipt for them. At the end of my shift the store's system said that everything was accounted for and also the drawer balanced.

I stole at least $5,000 and probably closer to $6,000 since I always tried to do at least $250 every shift. I worked a lot since I was just a high school student. I worked there for almost 4 years with no problem at all. I honestly think they just forgot that the store existed.

I used the money on new cars, laptops, expensive food, and just blow it. Honestly it was really stupid to do but it really felt great to be able to buy whatever I wanted. The moral of the story is if you have an opportunity to steal thousands of dollars do it.
