How is anyone still optimistic about the future of the world?

Year by year I read more and more news about babies being raped and strangled to death, kids being burned alive or scalded to death, teenagers being filmed while being murdered alive with very graphic methods, elderly being raped and murdered... and nothing ever changes.<br><br>I just can't fathom how people are still optimistic about the future of humanity.
