"Awkward silences are the worst"

I hate this idea that silence at a social event needs to be filled at all times. So many things I enjoy about socializing are often in slower building and working up to, and having time to brainstorm or process are valuable when learning and becoming closer to people. An awkward silence can also be an opportunity for levity, which is one of the best ways to build a bond with someone.
