[Controversial] Why Do People Hate Anime So Much Online?

I've been online for a long time, but I recently have noticed a surge of hatred towards anyone who enjoys anime. For me, it makes no sense, because I remember that the internet was built by otakus and tech people and the tech world isn't as popular as it use to be. (Or is it) I just don't understand why people insult anime fans so much, and that includes my friends, and that's really hard for me to see. I just want to know why they feel this way. I have friends who can't even go on TikTok anymore because of all the hate they get. It's really sad, and you can tell they are really hurting from it.
