Use a sock as a sleeve to protect your hands when reaching into the oven.

Sounds kind of crazy but once you've burned your hands from reaching into an oven you'll want to try it. It provides a ton of protection when you're getting utensils or baking dishes out. Not a good idea if you are pulling out the baking dish from the bottom of the oven though.
