What is the likelihood of a large-scale AI-related event in the next year or so?

So far, this community (and the broader AI/tech world) has been very poor at predicting exactly when we'll hit milestones and what sub-milestones we'll hit first. <br><br>Some of the folks on this community have an alarm that the sky is falling, and yet I haven't seen much discussion around how we should even think about the problem. <br><br>In the end, I think this is less about likelihood and more about how we can properly prepare for a large-scale AI-related event.
