Joe Rogan doesn’t know anything about AI

Joe Rogan has never heard of Claude. He has never heard of OpenAI labs. He’s never heard of the ARC benchmark. He has never heard of longtermism or Williamson’s argument. <br><br>And he’s still somehow the best source of information on AI available to the public. <br><br>Idk what to call this phenomenon, but it’s kind of like how he was the best source of information on psychedelics for a long time. <br><br>It’s the same problem. If you’re a journalist, people can just call you a tech bro. If you’re a tech bro, you’re just a tech bro. If you’re some public figure who’s just talking about AI out of genuine concern, then they might call you a tech bro or left behind or something. <br><br>Reminds me of the “what if the cure to cancer really is an ancient plant but big pharma suppresses it” type of thing.
