This is one of the biggest reasons women make less than men in the US. If salaries are, say, 20% higher than cost of living, and a woman made 100k but then took 5 years off to raise kids, she should be able to start a new job of the same type for that same 120k even, depending on when she went off work and when the raise since then has been, without giving away her salary history. <br><br>A previous job doesn’t make you any better for the new one than a person who never worked before and is starting from 0.
