My (36m) wife (34f) keeps tying my boots after I've told her to keep her hands off of them. I tried to teach her a lesson and really hurt her feelings.

Yes, you read that right. My wife has this OCD where she has to tie her shoes (and usually everyone else's shoes) after she unties them. I think it might be related to her anxiety as well, but I'm not a professional so I can't say for sure. Recently, I've started wearing these boots to work (I work in a kitchen as a sous chef) and they give me incredible blister protection and slip resistance, and usually, the last person to leave the kitchen will untie them so the next person won't have to untie them and waste time. Usually, that person is my wife because I work nights while she works days. I absolutely need those boots because my feet would be destroyed without them. That being said, I have to untie them when I get home from work every single day I work nights because my wife can't seem to help herself. I've talked to her about this before, about leaving my boots alone, and she says, "Okay." But every single time I come home from work and need to walk around the house, the boots are tied.

So I tried to teach her a lesson. I untied them, put them in the freezer, and then put them back where I keep them. I also left a note that said "Please don't touch my boots. I need them to protect my feet." Well, the next morning she saw the note and the boots and when I got home from work, I could tell she was upset. When I asked her what was wrong, she told me that she had thrown the boots away and told me that she was sick and tired of my games. I asked her what she meant, and she said that putting the boots in the freezer and leaving the note was mean and childish and that it scared her, and she thought that the boots were possessed by a demon or something and that's why she threw them away. I kinda sorta forgot that she's Catholic so I can't really blame her, but I really, really need those boots and I'm pretty sure my boss won't let me work without them because he can't have someone slipping around in the kitchen during dinner service because I couldn't afford to buy new boots right away. So what should I do? I really don't want to go to a shoe store today and I really don't want to have this fight with her.
