If you need a wheel chair due to a mental disability you shouldn't be able to get one.

Last year in my psych class, the professor mentioned case in which people who were depressed or had other mental disabilities were eligible for financial aid, as well as other perks, such as being entitled to parking closer and a spot closer to the classroom as well as being eligible to have notes taken by a Ph. D student for the class taken by a professor, if needed, among other things, all because the student had a mental health disorder.

This seemed ridiculous to me since it created an uneven playing field for people with mental illnesses, such as depression since some people who have depression are still able to function nearly as well as those who don't.

Imagine if you had Parkinson's and could only write slowly, but you were able to function otherwise nearly the same as someone who didn't have the disease. Would it be fair if one person had access to a writer while you didn't? Certainly not.

The idea of someone who is, for example, clinically depressed being eligible for these kind of resources while someone with Parkinson's is not simply irks me, but makes little sense.
