What's the deal with men's skincare?

Everywhere I look I see these (mostly well-known) men advertising these skincare routines. I'm a guy and I use just everyday soap that has been working for me for a while, and I never felt the need to go further than that. Why is it that so many of these skincare routines are advertised through men?
