Can we talk about the "I learned that at home but not in school" crowd?

I've had the pleasure of watching the same nonsense on r/relationships for years and it just *never* gets old. There are threads about "I learned this at home but none of my friends did" and they go on about the "life skills" their parents taught them that other parents didn't teach theirs. I mean skills like:

* How to do laundry
* How to cook
* How to have a good conversation
* How to start a fire
* How to open jars
* How to be a parent to your future children
* How to change oil
* How to deal with your feelings
* How to do your taxes
* How to do basic car maintenance
* How to get a driver's license
* How to hunt for food
* How to get a job
* How to brush your teeth right
* How to wear nice clothes
* How to get a haircut
* How to get a passport
* How to be good friends with people

And it seems people are just in awe of all these basic life skills and how their parents taught them something most people don't know. It's just the weirdest thing ever. I mean, I know there are uninvolved parents, parents who don't care, or parents who don't teach their kids anything because they're either lazy or just too involved in their own life.

Or maybe people *do* know these things and it's only on the internet where they don't?
