# tldr: I checked out the nation's largest gun show, and it was wild. Lots of swell people, strippers, hate for children, and holsters.

# Background
I'm a born and raised Atlantan, and have only recently become interested in guns. My boyfriend, an avid collector, is the reason I'm even interested, but he's also super busy at this time of year, so I thought I'd go for both of us. I have nothing to compare it to, but the nation's largest gun show sounds neat to me. I don't have much to buy with, but I didn't have to pay to get in, so it's all profit.

# Observations
I'm a 20-something woman, and in my role, I spend 90% of my time surrounded by men, so I'm not too fazed by it, but most of you will probably be surprised - there were very few women, and even fewer with their children. That's fine, but what bothers me is the attitudes towards children. I had two separate instances where men approached me, asked me if my boyfriend was around, I said no, and they asked if I was there alone, and I said yes, and they literally said "Good, I hate kids." These were vendors, mind you. Also, during a rather вікеd holocaust denial rant, one guy said "I don't like kids anyway." Uh, cool.
Most people are really friendly though. In the first booth I went to, the owner asked how my day was, and I said it was going well, because I'd already seen a few of the models from the strip club in attendance. He laughed and asked if I liked them. I responded "Yeah, I mean, have you seen them?" He said "I've been staring at them all day." I said "Good, I don't like kids anyway." And he cracked up. It was great.

# Prices
I didn't buy much, but it's all relative. I had $90 and I bought a very well-made leather holster for $50, a new pistol (Glock 43x) for $20, two magazines for $5, and two strips of 6 rounds for $10. The was fine, because like I said, I had nothing to spend anyway. I may have just gotten lucky, but I thought the prices were a bit high, and a bit arbitrary. I only saw four other pistols, because I don't care about rifles or shotguns (my boyfriend has already told me exactly what I'll be getting for either if I choose), and they were all at least original price (MSRP) if not higher. In general, the prices seem to be driven more by where in the show you are than what is actually being sold. The people at the front entrance were the most expensive, and the people in the way back were the cheapest. The prices for ammunition were all over the place. I saw a box of 1000 rounds for $60, and 50 rounds for $80, right next to each other. I did buy two boxes of .40, but they were significantly cheaper than anything I'd seen online, so I'm happy with that.

# Conclusion
I'm not much of a gun person, but even I found some cool stuff. If you have the time, give it a shot - there's some really neat stuff. Everyone was super nice overall, and I met some very interesting people. If you have kids, maybe take a break from them for the afternoon though.

Edit: Holy shit this went off quick. For those wondering, I'm not a regular here, I thought this might be of interest but I don't know this community's hate for kids. I'm also a 21 year old woman who has spent an overwhelming amount of time around men, so I've learned to talk like that. It's not a personal sentiment, but rather a thing to say to be included in the conversation. I don't hate kids. I don't love kids. I don't have kids. Nor do I have a boyfriend or gun. But thanks for the gold gold anonymous.
