The most annoying thing about the internet is that everyone assumes you are from the US or know everything about the US all the time.

As a European, I don't understand why this is such a huge assumption with no contextual evidence. I sometimes don't even know much about the US or have opinions about this stuff and people in threads ANALYZE every comment look for hints and code. It's so weird how it should be assumed everywhere all the time with no red flags.

I think this derives from the internet being created by Americans, most popular platforms being American etc. Nevertheless, it should not be that hard to get a moderate-sized group of people online who speak different languages and have other perspectives.

For my clarification - I am sorry if this becomes offensive for anyone from the US. It's not my intention to offend anybody, I hope we can understand each other.
