“Conservative” policies are not conservative

I hear the term “conservative” being thrown around a lot to describe the policies and ideologies of the GOP, but I would argue that they are not conservative in any sense of the word. <br><br>Conservative comes from the idea of conserving things, not blowing them up for the sake of profit and greed. The republican party is literally blowing up the planet, poisoning the water, destroying democracy, erasing the history books and brainwashing people. That’s not conservative, that’s anarchism - which is more of an ideology of the left if anything. <br><br>A true conservative would want to conserve water, conserve democracy, conserve healthcare, conserve social security, conserve the quality of food in grocery stores, conserve the quality of the air, etc. The GOP does not do that. <br><br>A true conservative would also want to obey the laws that are already in place and not try to amend the constitution every five minutes. <br><br>A true conservative would conserve and protect public land, not sell it off to corporations. <br><br>The GOP is not conservative, they’re just greedy money worshippers that don’t give AF about the planet, human rights, or simple things like healthcare and minimum wage.
