Telling a guy to "just be confident" as dating advice is like telling a depressed person to "just cheer up".

I re-read a post on a Subchambers where a guy was getting advice on how to increase his dating life. Near the top of the list of answers was "just be confident".<br><br>Confidence comes from a lot of different factors, including persona, personality, skills, appearance, and experience.<br><br>It's like if a depressions subchambers poster asked how to get off medication and regain their mental strength, and the top answer was "just cheer up".<br><br>You don't just "cheer up". It takes a fucking miracle to just "be more confident", it's a long fucking process that consists of a lot of small steps.<br><br>And once you manage to go through all that, you fucking well should!<br><br>Now, if a guy told a depressed girl to just cheer up, he'd be an asshole, but they are both humans. And if a depressed human tells another depressed human to cheer up, they're both depressed humans.<br><br>*Yell at the depression, not the newly depressed person.*
