People who say "humans weren't meant to work" have no basic understanding of how a society functions.

I want to preface this with: I think that salaries are too low to be able to live comfortably, and i think that a change is needed, but i do not think that "not working anymore" would benefit anyone.

I've been hearing more and more "we shouldn't spend 30-40 years of our lives just to be able to afford to live".
And yes, i agree that salaries are too low. But do these people not understand what makes those salaries so low? If all the citizens didn't work, who would be producing and selling the goods? Who would pay for the services we use (even if we don't use them, their employees still need to be paid)?

"Work" isn't just "do this so you can afford to live". Work is what puts food on your table and under your chair. What keeps schools, hospitals and police running. If people didn't work, we would have an economy where nothing is produced and the few people working in agriculture would have to feed half a billion people who don't produce anything.

It sounds counterintuitive, but i think if salaries were high enough that people could afford to live without working, should they keep working? Probably not all of them. But that means that there would have to be 100% the same (if not higher) amount of services available, but with less people working for it. So what would happen? Everyone would have the freedom to choose if they want to work or not, so obviously all the jobs that are like "i can do this because someone else is doing the jobs that i don't want to do" would disappear. So people would be in charge of getting their own foods, their own medicines, their own safety etc.

You could say "i don't want to work, someone else will do it for me". But if everyone thinks like that, literally nobody would work and nothing would be produced because there would be nothing to pay the working people.

If you don't understand this, imagine a house. Who stakes the food? The police? The school? The hospitals?

If all citizens didn't work, who would?
