Is it weird to follow your daughter to her friend's house?

I'm a stay at home mom. I'm a 45 year old woman. I have a daughter who's 14 and a son who's 4. My husband works away and I'm a stay at home mom to them. My daughter has a friend who lives in a house that's away from the street. There's a forest area around the house. I'm always worried about her but she's a teen now and wants to go over to her friend's house alone or with me driving her there.

I have offered to drive her to her friend's house and then instead of leaving I suggested that I could wait in the car until she's ready to go home and I would drive her back. She saw this as me not trusting her and got mad at me. She has made other plans now with her friend to go to the mall and I'm still expected to drive her there and pick her up.

I just can't help it. I'm a worried mom and I'm just afraid something would happen to her if I'm not there. I'm not trying to be overbearing, I just want her to be safe. Is there something wrong with this?
