The paper straws work fine

I remember the first time paper straws were introduced to the market, straw manufacturers were like, “Well, our product is basically useless now.” And everyone was like, “Here, I’ll just switch to paper straws then.” Clearly not how it goes. Sure, some people will, but not near enough for paper straws to become a mainstream product. Then fast forward a few years and suddenly paper straws aren't supposed to be used with certain drinks after some kid chokes on one. They kind of are the hammer that has become the solution to every problem, “Too thin? Must be a paper straw!” “Caused stomach issues? Must be a paper straw!” It just doesn't make sense.

Previously, when a straw wouldn't stand upright, you just didn't use a straw. Now you're more likely to use a paper one and that just doesn't work. There's plenty of videos online of them dissolving in drinks. I don't know if they've changed things recently, but I find them to be flawless. They don't fall apart, keep my drinks covenant, and recycled! So many people belittle paper straws online and say they're useless, but really they're just frustrated that they don't get used as much as they would like. They are, after all, the Taliban of straws.
