Hey guys, you ever notice the difference that being skinny makes in the gym? (A weight loss story if you will.)

Hey guys, I'm 6'3, going on 20 y/o, and I'm from Australia. Since I moved here in 2014, I was around 95 pounds, but over the course of the last year of high school and the beginning of college, I gained a large amount of weight, going from 95 pounds to around 195 pounds. I got moderately fat, and my sister (thank God for her, the apple of my eye) helped me get to work losing weight.

In March of last year, I set out on a journey to lose around 80 pounds. I've never been a very athletic person, so the idea of just jumping on a bike for an hour each day didn't really appeal to me... so I joined a gym. That gym was my safe haven, I started going 4-5 times a week, and I always looked forward to it. I've been going to that gym for about a year now, and I've lost around 90 pounds, and started power lifting. (Today I weigh about 105 pounds)

The gym is great for me, it helps me get out of the house, and I have a lot of fun doing it, however, I've noticed something pretty interesting. The kind of workouts I do on a daily basis have changed a lot since I lost weight. It's much easier for me to run, jump, and lift things than it was a year ago. I can lift about 350 pounds, and I'm planning to try for 400 pounds soon, I can run 5 miles, and I can jump a decent amount of weight around. I'm not saying this to brag, but I find the difference it's made in my life to be very interesting.

I know it's probably a given that losing a lot of weight would make you stronger, but I'm genuinely impressed by the difference it's made for me.

TL;DR: Losing a lot of weight really helps you in the gym.
