A lot of workplaces (like my own) have a lot of reserved parking for don't know/parents with young children/etc. And I think that's totally fine. It's good to have parking spots for people who need to be able to park very close to the building.

I don't think that just because someone "needs" something more than you, you are morally required to give it up. There are a lot of people who need a parking spot closer to the building than I do (as I'm young and able-bodied). Does that mean I'm morally required to give up my parking spot to them? I don't think so.

By extension, I think airplane seating is another good example. Elderly/disabled people are the ones who "deserve" to sit in the exit row, not able bodied people. I think it's totally fine to have rows with more leg space that are only for disabled/elderly people. I don't have to give up my seat because I don't "deserve" it. Nobody "deserves" anything.

And then of course there's the age old debate about giving up your seat on an airplane to women who are pregnant or to elderly folks. I don't think you are morally obligated to give up your seat. But it would be a very kind thing to do.

So yeah, your thoughts.
