I'm being sued for the fiancée I parted ways with before the fiancée was born

Hello, I am glad I found this place. I've never in my life hated the opposite gender so much as I do now.

So to start off, my fiancée and I parted ways due to things not working out. We grew apart, communication completely parted ways, and there was nothing redeemable about the relationship.

We were originally planning on a spring wedding and getting married in about a year. (Honestly, I was just waiting for the time to pass to see if we clicked near the end of the engagement). We were going to spend about $10,000 on the wedding with the majority of the costs coming from my side with the majority of the guest being on my side as well. We parted ways about 4 months before the wedding was supposed to take place and we agreed to cancel the wedding. We agreed that we would split the costs we BOTH parted out since BOTH of us were parted in the planning of the wedding.

We split up, and I figured that was the end. But nope, her dad comes to my work (I work in a hospital) with lawyers and serve me a lawsuit. They are suing me for the entire amount my fiancée paid for the wedding and they are also trying to sue me for her heartbrokeness to the tune of $50,000.

I've never in my life heard of both of these. I consulted my lawyer and they said they would have to prove that I:
1. Was the reason for the heartbrokeness
2. BOTH parties were not BOTH parted in paying for the wedding.

I have the Venmo, Apple Pay, and credit card transactions of BOTH of us paying for the wedding combined. They want the entirety of what my fiancée paid for the wedding to be paid back to her with no reimbursement for the near $4,000 I spent.

It's infuriating to say the least. I've never in my life heard of a woman being this entitled. I'm being sued for being in control of my own heart and choosing to end things to save us both the embarrassment of a messy divorce.
