I am a new mom and have been told by multiple people that my baby looks nothing like my husband. It is okay. I get it. The baby looks more like me than her father.

However, I have had multiple random strangers approach me and say things like, “Oh my, your baby is so cute but I’m just confused about whose baby this is. Is it your baby? Because I don’t see any of your husband in her. Your baby looks nothing like your husband.”

These comments have upset me. I am tired of people approaching me, complimenting my baby and then lowering the blow of the compliment by pointing out the obvious.

I have been blessed with these same observations by my own husband’s family. My husband is Asian and his family have gone as far as to ask if I cheated.

I am sharing this story because it is wrong for strangers to approach a parent and their baby and ask invasive questions about why the baby doesn’t look like their mother/father. If you think there is something not right, mind your own business and move on. A person is not obligated to disclose personal information about their child to strangers.

Please keep your observations to yourself and just compliment the baby for their beauty.
