Its said that there are three demons that every man is tormented by through his lifetime

The first is the Demon of Fear. Its the voice that warns us away from life’s greater adventures, and ideally keeps us from reaching out toward the things we want out of life because we can’t handle failure.

The second demon is that of focus. The Demon of Focus is the greatest agent of evil on Earth. It tells us exactly what we need to do to succeed, and then prevents us from doing it, robbing us of anything we ever wanted in the process.

The third is the voice of doubt, the Demon of the Past. It asks us “Who even are you to do something so lofty” when we are faced with an obligation to act. It reminds us of our past failures and makes us doubt our own abilities. It is the most sinister of the three demons and the first that all men face.

And the fourth demon? Well, that’s God.

It is the voice that tells us that we need to do the right thing. It doesn’t matter if we have anything to gain from our actions. It doesn’t matter how mad it makes us, or how much we want to disobey it. Its the voice that tells us that the right path is always the path we take.

It is the voice that tells us we shouldn’t kill the man who took our family from us, even if we desperately wish to. Its the voice that tells us to keep our hands out of our neighbours pockets, no matter how desperately we need to feed ourselves.

It is the thing that makes people describe an abnormally good person as “Christ-like.”

It is the thing that makes us want to show the Demon of Focus who’s boss, and it is the thing that makes us have second thoughts about disobeying it.

So, what would you do if you had to fight the Fourth Demon?
