Cats are awful

Yeah, let's just get it out there. I hate cat owners, I own a cat, my cat is awesome but in context of other animals cats are the absolute shit. They are the worst and make me disgusted to be near them.

I've had cats to be relatively neutral about them, but it wasn't until I had my current cat that I really hated everything about them. My current cat is great and everything, but in relation to other cats, they're absolutely shit.

I guess we should start with their absolute favourite thing in the world: being alone. They are the one animal out of all domesticated who does not want to interact with humans in any way. They don't know or care about any of that "lorlorlover" stuff cat owners say, they absolutely hate interaction, will try and avoid it in absolutely everything they do, yet still know how to go to the litter box every time. They don't know how to play either, they'll just walk away from a toy in the middle of being played with. I had a teacup cat who used to steal my phone off the coffee table to play with it, but cat's now a fat slab and hasn't touched a phone in years.

Their whole personality is awful. They know they're shit and act superior to everyone because of it, but don't have the decency to interact with anyone. They're very fussy as well, I had a cat who refused to go near water and would get pissed off if you even tried to touch him near it. They can sit in the corner of your bedroom and stare at the wall for hours on end doing nothing.

And then there's their stench. I swear, the only cat urine smell I get from my cat is when it's sick, otherwise his litter box literally smells like nothing. But that's a good thing it can cover up the fact that cats generally just stink. Their dander, fur, saliva whatever, just stinks and smells awful. My desk is next to the window so I used to open the window every night to let the breeze in, until the flies started pouring in. My cat loves sitting on my desk, so every night I'd be crawling across my desk to close the window because I couldn't handle the amount of flies coming in. I then shut off the heater to see where the problem was and I find the cat is puking up fur nips onto the heating register, creating a fly infestation.

And finally, cats are the most injury prone animal out of all of them. I've had two cats in my life who have puked up fur nips, both times the amount is too much for the drain and it overflows down the basin. I had to get the plumber out twice to clean up cat vomit. My current cat is also very limper, so if he tries to scratch something it just collapses under him. I had a scratching post for him and it collapsed after a couple of scratches and he fell on top of it, dying instantly. Also, cats just scratch shit, they'll scratch anything. I had a wall scratching post that was absolute waste of money, it was a tall, standing one, but my cat was too lazy to scratch it, so instead decided to scratch the wall so much it fucking fell off.

And finally, their claws. Cat owners don't know what pain is until they have to get their cat's claws out for the 100th time. You can get a cat a scratching post, it means nothing to them. I had a scratching post with a bit of sandpaper on it to try and keep his claws in check, and his favourite past time was scratching the desk. It took me hours to take his claws out for the first time and he was absolutely freaking out, I finally finished and gave him treats and everything. A couple of days later I came back from work and his claws had grown out almost an entire inch and he scratched the desk so fucking hard the wood came off. I then took him to the vet and got him to do it and gave him all sorts of treats, again, he forgot what I did to him almost instantly.

And that's cat's in a nutshell. I hated them until I got my current one and now I understand why all the cats in my area are given up for free or 99c. I was given my current cat for free from some family friends when they moved states and couldn't take him with them. It's saved me a whole bunch of money, and he's a great cat, but in relation to all other animals they suck.
