I'm not proud. I'm not a victim. I'm not a Saint or a martyr. I'm just human.

18 months ago, my husband was out with some of his friends at a bar. He was drunk and I was worried so I came to pick him up. To my surprise he was making out with one of his coworkers. I backed off and went home. When he came home, we didn't talk about it.

Fast forward 3 months, I needed to use his car to drop off supplies at my school (teacher here) and there were pictures of him and the woman in his center console along with some Polaroid pictures of them doing things they shouldn't be doing. I just put it back and didn't say anything.

This went on for a year and a half until last weekend when I needed him to come pick me up from the airport. He didn't show. I called and he said he will be there in 20 mins. I called an Uber and went home. When he came home, I asked why he didn't come in 20 mins like he said. He said he was still at the bar with his friends. I said ok.

This weekend we had a party to go to and he was acting strange. He kept looking at his phone and responding to text messages. I asked if everything was ok and he said yes. I dropped it.

We went to the party and he stepped outside for a few mins and I took his phone and sent myself his messages.

He was telling her that he felt bad that he didn't come pick me up from the airport. That he was a piece of s*** and that he needed to come clean.

I felt bad for her. strange I know but I felt bad that she was with a married man and probably had feelings for him.

On Sunday, I wrote her a text message from his phone and asked her if she wanted to meet for coffee during lunch.

She agreed.

I went to the coffee shop and there she was. A very pretty young woman.

I sat down and introduced myself and told her that I was his wife.

She started crying apologized and was upset.

I asked her "how would you feel if your boyfriend was married and you didn't know?"

She said she'd be mad.

There was an awkward silence for about 5 mins while she cried.

I told her that I didn't blame her. I blamed him. But that she deserved better.

She agreed.

I told her that I do hope that they have a life together. They deserve each other.

She smiled

I asked her "If you were in my shoes, would you leave him?"

She said "I would. You deserve better. He's not a good man."

I said "you're right. I'm going to divorce him."

We hugged and I left.

When I got home, he was in the kitchen making chicken.

I said "hey, can we talk?"

He said "of course."

I told him "do you remember when you were out at the bar a year and a half ago?"

He said yes.

I said "I saw you with the woman. I knew about it."

He started to cry.

I said "I knew about it the whole time. I'm leaving in the morning."

He said "Please don't leave me."

I said "I'm not leaving you for her. I'm leaving you for me. You aren't a good man and I do deserve better."

He started to cry more.

I pulled out a piece of paper and put in on the table.

He said "what is that."

I said "the appointment for divorce."

He said "I'll do anything please don't leave."

I said "I'm not leaving you for her. I'm leaving you for me."

With that I grabbed my dogs food and water bowls along with my cat and got in my car and drove to my parents.

The next morning I went to the appointment and initiated the divorce.

I got home and he was gone. The Jag was missing along with our safe. He drained our joint account and took almost everything in the house that had any value.

Tomorrow I will be buying a lawyer and getting a restraining order.
